As home to the University of Delaware (go Blue Hens!) Newark, Delaware ranks high in areas with amenities for its residents to enjoy. Newark truly is a place that has something for everyone. If food and entertainment is your thing, there are more than 60 restaurants in the city and a vibrant nightlife scene along Main Street. For you outdoorsy types, the city boasts 12,000 acres of public parkland and is only a short drive from White Clay Creek State Park. As a college town, Newark also ranks among the safest Communities in Delaware and is recognized as a “Bicycle Friendly Community” by the League of American Bicyclists.
There are a number of new home communities in the greater Newark area, however, much of the housing stock includes older neighborhoods with bungalows, ranches, colonials, and Tudors.
The city itself sits about halfway between Baltimore and Philadelphia, just off of I-95. There’s also an AMTRAK stop in Newark, making a car-free commute along the Northeast Corridor possible.
